Please note that 4.0 has several major features (detailed below) some of which are more likely to cause conflict with other software. - While most major issues should now be fixed, there are likely to be others - users wanting a perfectly-working version of Outpost should wait until a final version is released. this is a BETA version.
- Bugs encountered should be reported to Agnitum using this form - the forum can be used to discuss them (please prefix thread titles with OP 4.0 in such cases to mark them out) pending the creation of a separate sub-forum.
Features: - Windows x64 support - a separate download of Outpost is offered for x64 versions of Windows.
- Windows 9x* hayc59 support - please note that these versions are not supported by 4.0 currently.
- Anti-Leak (Options/Application/Anti-Leak) - this feature will detect numerous activities (application launches, DDE/OLE control, windows hooks) and allows Outpost to block all known leaktests. However many legitimate applications (e.g. mouse/touchpad software, download managers, browser utilities) will also trigger Anti-Leak alerts so do expect a few more prompts if you enable this feature.
- Self-Protection (Tools/Enable Self Protection) - with this option, Outpost will block any changes to its registry keys or files and report such attempts. This feature is probably the most likely to cause conflict with other software.
- Macro-Rules - it is now possible to specify values like DNS_SERVERS, LOCAL_NETWORK or MY_COMPUTER as remote or local hosts which will be dynamically updated, making it possible to create specific but flexible rules.
- "Game Mode" (Options/Policy/Advanced/Entertainment Mode) - It is possible to change Outpost's policy (to Block Most by default) and disable features like Anti-Leak or Component Control when an application takes over the full screen. This can be used to ensure that no Outpost prompts occur when playing an online game.
