OK to run ZoneAlarm with NPF disabled?

After updating NIS2004 last week (which included a Redirector update) on my WinXP system, NPF was apparently denying internet access to all applications including itself (i.e. NIS/LiveUpdate etc). I checked program permissions were OK, and even lowered the firewall security level to "Low" but this made no difference, so I'm forced to conclude that the Redirector update has broken my NPF. I'm damned if I'm going to have to keep uninstalling/reinstalling NIS to fix this, I'm just hoping the next NIS update/patch will fix the problem - if it doesn't I'll probably be uninstalling Mr Norton's products and making sure they stay uninstalled forever  Grin

As a stopgap, I've disabled NPF from loading at startup, and installed ZoneAlarm free version - as far as I can tell everything is working OK - internet access is fine - ZA is logging alerts etc and I can still run Norton AV and Systemworks etc. I just wondered if any firewall gurus out there could tell me if ZA will be able to do its thing OK with NPF still installed but disabled and there won't be any problem conflicts between the two? Thanks for any thoughts on this  Smiley
