Vista/Win 7- Alternate Method of LiveUpdate Sched

This procedure describes an alternate method of scheduling TrojanHunter's LiveUpdate. This procedure: - Applies to 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7 - Applies to TrojanHunter V5.+ - Utilizes the system Task Scheduler - Forces TrojanHunter's LiveUpdate to run on computer startup and every 4 hours thereafter Step 1: Open the system Task Scheduler - Sign on with a user account that has full administrative privileges - Go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Task Scheduler Step 2: Select Create Basic Task - In the top menu bar of the Task Scheduler, click on Action - Select Create Basic Task in the drop-down menu - The Create Basic Task Wizard will open Step 3: Build the LiveUpdate Basic Task - In the Name box, enter TH LiveUpdate - In the Description box, enter Run TH LiveUpdate on computer startup and every 4 hours thereafter. - Click on Next - The "Trigger" window will open - Under When do you want the task to start?, bullet When the computer starts - Click on Next - The "Action" window will open - Under What action do you want the task to perform?, bullet Start a program - Click on Next - The "Start a Program" window will open - Click on the Browse button - The explorer navigation window will open - Navigate to C:\Program Files\TrojanHunter 5.+\Tools\LiveUpdate and select(highlight) LiveUpdate.exe - Click on Open - The explorer navigation window will close. - "C:\Program Files (x86)\TrojanHunter 5.0\Tools\LiveUpdate\LiveUpdate.exe" should be in Program/script box - In the Add arguments (optional): box, enter /auto /hide - Click on Next - The "Finish" window will open - Checkmark Open the Properties dialog for this task when I click Finish - Click on Finish - The "TH LiveUpdate Properties (Local Computer)" window will open with the General tab selected Step 4: Specify the properties for TH LiveUpdate On the General tab - Bullet Run whether User is logged on or not - Checkmark Do not store password. The task will only have access to local computer resources - Checkmark Run with highest privileges - Click on the "Triggers" tab - Click on Edit On the Triggers tab - Checkmark Delay task for: - In the delay box, select 1 minute - Checkmark Repeat task every: - In the repeat box, change the 1 hour to 4 hour (Note that there is no 4 hour selection in the drop down menu. Just overwrite the 1 with a 4) - In the duration box, select Indefinitely - Checkmark Enabled - Click on OK - Click on the "Conditions" tab On the Conditions tab - Checkmark Start the task only if the computer is on AC power - Checkmark Stop if the computer switches to battery power - Checkmark Wake the computer to run this task - Checkmark Start only if the following network connection is available - Select Any Connection - Click on "Settings" tab On the Settings tab - Checkmark Allow task to be run on demand - Checkmark If the running task does not end when requested, force it to stop - Click on OK - The Properties window will close Step 5: Exit the Task Scheduler - In the top menu click on File and select Exit In the Task Scheduler, you can view the History for TH LiveUpdate to ensure that it is completing its updates.
