How to Submit a File for Analysis

This procedure describes how to manually submit a file for analysis to determine if the file is malicious. Please read this section in the TrojanHunter Help File: - http://www.misec.net/trojanhunter/help/?page=PossibleTrojanFiles 1. Zip and password protect the suspect file. (For assistance in how to zip and password protect a file, please refer to the following link: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/security/1._General_Questions#8730 2. Using your e-mail client, attach the zipped file to an e-mail and send to submit@TrojanHunter.com - In the body of the email, please explain why this file is being submitted. (Example: TrojanHunter scanner detected file as possible trojan.) - Include the password so that the Trojan Analyst can unzip the password protected file. - If a post was created on the TH forum concerning this file, please include a link to the post in the body of the e-mail. NOTE: A. It is important to zip and password protect the file so that the file attachment will not be stripped from the e-mail by various e-mail servers that the e-mail passes through. B. Do not assume that a file that has been flagged as suspicious by TrojanHunter scanner is okay just because a Google (or other search engine) search reveals web sites that indicate the "named file" is routine and not malicious. It is best/safest to submit the file for analysis because of the trickery that the Internet criminals use. C. Depending on the number of submittals currently under review, it may take 2-3 days to receive a response concerning your particular submittal. Submittals on Saturday and Sunday may be slightly delayed as well. Special thanks to DSLReports for their Q & A concerning Zipping. Applies to all versions of TrojanHunter.
