I know.  I just installed the IE7 Blocker Toolkit to disable automatic delivery of Internet Explorer 7.

I'll probably install IE 7 eventually, but at a time of my choosing, not Microsoft's.

I use SeaMonkey 1.0.5 (with the NoScript extension) as my primary browser.

I almost exclusively run IE on the high security level with Windows Update, Office Update, and Symantec Security Check http://security.symantec.com/ - all of which I have listed as trusted sites.  I try to avoid using IE for anything else.

Maybe I'm paranoid, but when I was running my old machine with Windows 2000, Microsoft hosed me more than once.  Win2K SP4 messed up my machine so badly I had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall Win2K.  Later, when Microsoft pushed out WGA (Windows Giant @ss-pain) it broke my Windows Update and I had to download all security patches manually!   And by the way, my Windows software was genuine.

Since I'm an infrequent user of IE, I'm taking a wait-and-see approach to IE 7.

Manually installed IE-7 on my system and brother's system (both XP-SP2 HE with NIS 2007).  No problems during the installation.  Additional info here:

Thanks for the info, siliconman01, both here and in the other thread.  I am currently running WinXP SP2, with Norton SystemWorks & Personal Firewall 2006, so your results make me feel better.

Still I'm more than happy not to be an early adopter of IE 7.

Downloaded and instaled, (XP Pro, SP2 all security updates)everything went very well; no problems. NAV 2007, Spyware doctor, Spyware guard, Zone Alarm Pro, Trojan Hunter--Ad-ware SE personal, spybot S&D.  As per the instllation instructions for IE7, I tuned off or exited all my security apps ( that could be) before instillation:

That means disabling all memory resident stuff such as TH guard and auto-protect in Norton and unloading anything that can be such as spware guard, and exiting spyware doctor. Did not put any of these back until reboot after installation. But note: I did NOT uninstall anything--just to be clear Cheesy

Instllation took about tweleve minutes and IE7 works great so far...couple of days, no problems.

Read the user reviews for IE 7 at Download.com.  They certainly don't put my mind at ease.
