Diskeeper questions

Hello everyone, I’m hoping a forum member or two may have some thoughts on this issue. Here’s my story: A while ago, I installed an application called Diskeeper—a replacement for the Windows disk defragmenter. Soon after, my firewall alerted me that “dkservice.exe” was seeking an outbound communication. Not knowing what that was, I didn’t allow it. After daily messages from my firewall, I found that “dkservice.exe” resides in Diskeeper’s folder in program files. I then placed “dkservice.exe” in my firewall’s blocked applications list to stop the annoying alerts. I emailed the company’s technical services explaining what was happening and was told, “…please allow Diskeeper thru your firewall. Diskeeper listens to traffic and your firewall will think that it may be an intruder and block it, thus preventing Diskeeper from running.” I replied to this message, saying Diskeeper seemed to be working just fine while “dkservice.exe” was blocked and could it be explained why an outbound connection was needed and what Diskeeper was doing when it wanted to “listen to traffic.” No response was received to these questions. Couple of days ago, I receive a cheery message from Diskeeper’s technician asking if everything was fine now. I sent copies of the previous messages and posed the same questions again. Still, no reply from their end. A scan by TrojanHunter plus three separate spyware removal tools found nothing suspicious. But I still wonder why Diskeeper hasn’t given me answers to my questions. What’s the connection between “listening to traffic” and defraging a hard disk? Does anyone have any ideas on this?
