Too busy in my Linux system to spot that one over the last couple of days! They are being busy at the moment... (I recall times past when it would be weeks between updates)

Thanks ReGen - it's nice to see these frequent updates, especialy since they lost a lot of loyal supporters with the long, silent delay between versions 5 and 6

If you are using Ad-Aware 6.0 Plus and Ad-Watch 3.0 with the Lock on Startup Registry set...and have Ad-Watch 3.0 automatically loading on startup....and are having trouble with it blocking Registry changes on other programs during startup, here is a neat fix that was provided by one of the Ad-Aware forum users.  It works great to solve this problem.

Go to http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Reviews/r858.html and download PGM NetRun which is freeware and only 119 kb.  I used TDS3 and TrojanHunter to check the file for bad guys.  None there that these two detects.

This little program allows you to schedule other programs to start up on delays (you can stagger multiple pgms if necessary), to start up when you sign onto your ISP, and to shut them down when you sign off the ISP.  Of course the 3rd feature isn't much use for Cable or always connected.   modems/Lans.  I'm just using it to get over the hump on reboot and have a 150 mbps cable modem.

Just install Netrun and put it in your startup folder to turn it on when you reboot.  Then turn off the Ad-Watch feature to start up on computer restart.  Using the very simple help file of NetRun, add Ad-Watch to be started up by NetRun.  I use a 20 second delay on system reboot.  This allows NIS 2003 to stabilize and several other pgms to get going before Ad-Watch clamps a lock on the Startup Registry.

Netrun has solved my problem for Registry Lock random interference for 3 programs on startup.  Maybe it won't be needed after Lavasoft implements the plugins they are working on to allow a site administator to more fully customize certain features of Ad-Aware and Ad-watch.  But for now, its a winner..at least in my opinion!   Roll Eyes

Given that you are using two powerful AT app.s, what advantages have you found in having the Plus version of Ad-Aware?

Hmmm... good question!  I already had 5.83 Ad-Aware Plus licensed and the upgrade was free.  In addition I hadn't discovered TrojanHunter until last week.  And I'm just getting up to speed on TDS3 with a learning curve yet to go. Ad-Watch does some things too that are pretty decent like locking the startup registry to prevent undesireable modifications, pop-up blocking, etc.  And when the new plugins are available, it is supposed to go back to cookie blocking.

I bought the $99 TDS Suite with Wormguard and Port Protector this past weekend.  Wormguard doesn't seem to be Windows XP compatible.  It destroys the Helpctr.exe function of XP immediately on loading the core elements for worm guard into memory. Huh  Am waiting on tech support to confirm compatibility and/or damage report. Plus I'm trying to find the URL for their forum to learn some more about things.

Once I get comfy with TrojanHunter and TDS Suite, I will probably do some eliminating.  Huh
