Hello  ,

     I have a doubt  . Can  I  install  the  av  Gladiator  as  a back-up  of  NAV , i.e., NAV2002 on-access and GAV on-demand only ?
Anyone here  has  tried  the two AV's configuration above without  problems ?

  Regards ,

Hey,
Hi mozar, I've been using GAV with NSW 2003 for a few weeks now with no problems. Symantec said I shouldn't be using 2 AV's but I think that's there stock answer to people who use anything with there programs. I'm still a newbie when it comes to these things so I don't know if it can actually cause problems, but it's working for me and I like the program.

Hi

I've used GAV, NSW and AVG together without issue.  At the weekend I removed all things Norton and installed TM PCc 2003 and GAV still works fine as does AVG.

   Thank  you  both  ,

So I  will try  GAV ( on-demand)   this  week  . We all  know  that  the  only  thing  that  seriously conflicts    with  any Symantec  product  is  its  own  support .

Aah, the joys of Norton. An MVP I respect, who helps out in an NG I frequent is fond of saying, "Norton has no customers, only victims."

Interesting question about running two or more AV programs. I have NAV2002 now and have been eye-balling Gladiator. I did download and install Kerspaski (sp) and crashed when I clicked on one of the buttons. Just may give Gladiator a try.

   Thanks for info.

DaHen, I've always been led to believe that the only problems with having two AVs installed were if you tried to run them both together. Like you, I am interested in how Gladiator turns out. It's alpha at the moment, maybe I should jump on board early to secure a good deal on price for its final release.  Smiley

  Hello  ,  DaHen

You  have to  do  a  custom install of  KAV Personal (or PRO ) 4.x version   without ANY of its resident components ( control center , e-mail,script etc) .
If  you install  just  the updates , virus data and the  scanner  components  , you should have no problems (less than 50% of KAV should be installed that way ).
NAV will be running  on-access and KAV on-demand  and you should use KAV to right-click and full scans only.
I  did  so  in the past (NAV 2002 & KAV P.PRO 4.0x) without  any kind of issue  and I think  that  it  is  , in my opinion , the best AV possible set -- to different kinds of engines and virus definitionds database at your hand .

    Regards ,
                  mozar
